The Cakes of Germany

This was at the chocolate museum, we only looked at these ones.

Not cake. The best cup of hot chocolate I have ever had in my life. I would like another one. Right now.

Cakes through the window in Bonn. My reflection is visible in this shot.

Rhubarb cake at the coffee house right on the Rhine river. This one looks quite humble but it tops the list!

Mmmm. Same place and more yummy cake.

Someone(?) stopped by the local baker's that afternoon and bought a selection. How to choose which one?

Cake at painting class.

Rhubarb Cake at my sister-in-law's Mothers house.

More cake.

Cake again at painting class! I miss painting class.

Sunshine & Rain

This is how life is lately, so full! This picture is the perfect metaphor for my life right now. Lots of opposing things going on at once. Bright sunshine and pouring rain. I am certainly not bored.
I am trying to decide whether or not I should keep this blog going. When I am consistent it makes more sense and I yet I am struggling with it. Lately, several of the blogs I have read regularly are now gone or private. I truly miss them. Decisions!
If only I had a few extra hours everyday, I am sure I could get it all done then!

Germany is amazing!

My brother took me here yesterday. The picture cannot even begin to show this magnificent structure. It was huge and imposing and detail all over.

Fleisch und Wurst. Mmmmm.
Such a cool old bus. This is for Uncle Paddy.

Germany- Canola fields, Cloister, Painting & Cake

This is a shot from the plane right before landing in Munich. The bright yellow fields are canola flowers, the seeds are used for oil and Bio-fuel. We had a good flight, they GAVE us wine as well as a hot dinner (It was good too!) then we were lucky enough to sleep for a few hours and then the sun starting coming up and we woke up. It was about 1 am. They gave us hot towels and fed us breakfast and we loanded at 9 am (3 am).
Here is an old cloister that is being renovated. This is where my sister in law goes for her painting class. She asked me to join her.
What a place! I even joined in and painted, I don't think I have made a painting since Kindergarten. I was given everything I needed to paint plus tea and the company of all these amazing women. Everybody was speaking German and I was striving to understand and occasionally I could. I watched them critique a painting, I am not sure what was said but it was lively!

And then there was cake! Oh and whipped cream!

"He is like an instant best Friend."

This is our new puppy Charlie. He is cute ( as you can see!) and sweet and always happy to see us. He loves to play and also loves to take long naps. He instantly wormed his way into our hearts. Leif made the above quote about him being a best friend. He has been to the shop with me and if needed I could have given him away several times over! Everybody loves Charlie!

It is nice to have someone to keep you company and make you go outside ALL the time. I woke up the other morning to hear he and Leif playing. It is just what he needs being the last kid left in the house!

What is not to love?

How We Know it is Spring

Mud! Is has been kinda muddy around here. Not so bad that we had to shut the driveway off but it is a bit mucky outside. Leif really likes it. He spent 2 hours outside yesterday with NO SHOES ON! I still think it is a bit cold for that but when I asked him if his feet were cold he said "I can take it. I go out in the snow in bare feet." It is true, he does. His feet looked kinda red but I wasn't concerned I knew that if he were really cold it would hurt.

Spring is slow in Maine. It is a funky time of year when we expect warmth & sunshine and that is pretty scarce until end of May or June. It can make you a little grumpy-not me right now but it happens. I have rented a ton of movies this week so I would say people are needing a bit of an escape.

We do find our signs that change it happening, you just have to look close. This is Rhubarb just poking is head through the soil, it is always the first plant to grow in my yard & will be big and green soon!

Here I captured the hail/rain whilst it was falling. It was thundering too. We take what we can get & I am glad it isn't snow!
